NCAA and expansion talk
« on: March 09, 2010, 05:03:09 PM »
Why?  Why bother playing the regular season at all?  Don't let the NCAA fool you.  This has absolutely nothing to do with giving more mid-majors a chance and everything to do with the almighty dollar.  The only thing that should be done, if anything, is maybe add 3 play-in games so every region has one.  How do you guys feel about this?

Every mid-major gets a chance. Each can win it's conference. St. Mary's and Gonzaga will both be in, and both by different routes.

I feel like expansion only gives us a ton of bad games, worse than the current 1 v. 16 matchups.

If they truly want to let more teams be involved in postseason play instead of the same teams getting extra practice and play time every year as they claim, then they should expand the NIT.  After all, the NIT is now owned by the NCAA.   But leave the NCAA Tournament anlone.

Right, expand it far enough that UNC could get in.  :D

If no #16 seed has EVER beaten a #1 seed, why are we talking about a potential #17 seed?

This nothing more than a ploy by networks that want more money and coaches who want more job security with the end product being the destruction of one of the few things in sports that is pretty much close to perfect as is.
